| hundreds of years, whilst maintaining their own culture, language and identity. For most people, little is known about Travellers except what is written in the popular press, which often depicts them in a negative, stereotypical way. This site attempts to redress that balance in an interesting, informative way. It can be used by teachers and parents to raise issues such as prejudice, persecution, stereotyping and racism with pupils and students across the age ranges. We hope it will also be a useful resource for anyone with an interest in Gypsies and Travellers and alternative lifestyles. We have included information and pictures which convey an insight into the life style, culture, history and language of the Travelling peoples in Britain.
